As part of the national 1916 Centenary events, the Defence Forces are delivering an Irish Flag to every primary school in the country. Today the Infant School were presented with the National Flag and a copy of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic  by two members of the Irish Army. Pupils and teachers from Senior Infants and First Classes assembled in the school hall at 12.00 to participate in a special school ceremony to mark the event. We were joined by the girls from sixth class. Pupils  accepted a copy of the Proclamation for the school and First class pupils spoke about the significance of the irish flag and it's origins. After reading Section 4 of the document the officers then explained the significance of our National Flag and  presented  the Irish Flag to pupils Patryk and Méabh. The ceremony concluded with the sixth class girls singing Amhrán na bhfiann.
